Day 02 : Kandy City Tour - (The citadel in the Hills…)
After scrumptious breakfast with variety, proceed to wind up the tour… Consider as one of the most scenic spots in the country.
Quiet and homely, residents cluster around the economic hub that buzzes a bazaar atmosphere. Life moves sedately, though not with inactivity. Away from tourist trappings, Kandy is filled with hidden thrills.
Royal Botanical Garden The Gardens date back to the Kandy a kingdom, when they were used as royal pleasure grounds. However, it was soon after the British seized the Kandyan Kingdom that they were established in 1821. The Gardens are elegantly landscaped over 150 hectares of beautifully undulating grounds. Within this large loop of the meandering Mahaweli River is a spectacular display of more than 400 species of indigenous tropical flora and exotic plants.
Then proceed to Kandy Temple…
The temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha is the "Loadstar of the Buddhists", dating back to the 16th Century AD, built by King Narendrasinghe. The temple consists of a number of buildings, of which at the center, stands the main temple in which the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha is preserved. Right around the main temple is other accessory buildings, all rich in tradition. One of the most spectacular sections of the temple; the Paththirippuwa or the Octagon, was added by King Sri Wickrema Rajasinghe (1798 -1815 AD). He also built the Kandy Lake. Rituals are enacted daily in the temple to venerate the Tooth Relic, accompanied by flute playing and drumming. A golden canopy was constructed recently over the Relic Chamber.

Go on a site seeing and a shopping trip around the busy streets of Colombo.
Many visitors will appreciate Colombo’s colonial heritage, its fine dining and shopping opportunities, and the dash of urban buzz in an overwhelmingly rural country. Others will tire quickly of the diesel fumes and the modern buildings on Galle Rd, the city’s main artery. If you’re only on a short trip to Sri Lanka, you may wish to pass by Colombo, but if you have the time – there are plenty of cultural and historical attractions in areas such as Fort, Cinnamon Gardens and Pettah.
