Home to three of the oldest mosques in the world, the historic city of Madinah (or Medina) is the second holiest city in Islam. Madinah draws hundreds of thousands of Muslims every year to worship beneath the green dome of Al Masjid Al Nabawi, the mosque where the Prophet Mohammed is buried. The Prophet migrated to Madinah from Makkah and taught there for some years before his triumphant return to Makkah. Visiting Madinah is a holy rite of passage and is a trip of a lifetime.
